Importance of marine Omega-3 fatty acids<\/h3>\n

Omega-3 fatty acids are essential polyunsaturated fatty acids that are not produced by the mammalian body and must therefore be obtained from the diet. However, a distinction must be made between the plant-based Omega-3 fatty acid ALA and the two marine Omega-3 fatty acids EPR and DHA.<\/p>\n

The fatty acid ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) is found in flax and chia seeds, flaxseed oil or nuts. However, it is not absorbed by the body, but is instead translated into the other two fatty acids, EPA and DHA. However, this conversion factor is very low, only 05-10%.<\/p>\n

Not all Omega-3 acids are the same<\/h3>\n
